I came across this picture of Joe’s good friends The Boat Band, Greg Stephens and Kate Barfield on a trip they made, with Any Old Time’s Dave Hennessey, inspired by Joe’s visits too Cariacou and Petit Martinique. The fiddler Harrison Fleury was a guy Joe had met and recorded. I always thought they looked eerily similar! I will at some point get Joe’s recordings added on this site. But here is a link to The Boat Band’s account of their trip.https://laragh456.wordpress.com/2014/01/25/on-the-trail-of-joe-schofield-carriacou-and-petite-martinique/
Boat Band on Joe’s session trail

Thanks to Tim Dalling and all for reviving these great memories of Joe and his music. Tim talks above about our following in Joe’s footsteps chasing the traditional musicians of Carriacou in the Caribbean. We sailed into Carraicou with Dave Hennessey and Katrina Emtage on their boat Laragh, and searched for Harrison Fleary, eventually running him to earth at a cricket match. We played with him and others at this great session in the Lazy Turtle. It was impossible to avoid the thought that Harrison and Joe must be half brothers, so similar were they in appearance, and style ! Judge for yourself in this video.
Great memories Tim, love from Greg and Kate (from the Boat Band)
